The Crew

Janine, Kevin, Kosh and Dargo Delonge welcome you aboard OceanBlue Adventures. We are a small, family operation specializing in Poor Knights diving liveaboard and day trips. The north east coast of New Zealand is one of the most spectacular coast lines in the world and we are privileged to have it as our playground. Why not come and join us as we explore this adventurer’s paradise. Our philosophy is simple. Combine a comfortable boat, great food, excellent company and unlimited diving at the best dive sites Northland and New Zealand has to offer and you have the recipe for Oceanblue Adventures.
 
The Owners
Janine and Kevin have been diving together since 1996. They have a shared passion for exploration and travel , which saw them actively pursue a diving career in the UK. This culminated in FISHinthecity, which is still a successful London dive school and club. On a trip to New Zealand they dived the Poor Knights with Oceanblue and decided that this was the lifestyle they were looking for. They took over OceanBlue Adventures in 2006 from Glenn & Tiana and hope to maintain the standards and philosophies that drew them to dive New Zealand by offering great diving and to share the adventure with others.

Janine is a PADI Course Director and a TDI Advanced Trimix Instructor and has been involved in the dive industry for 7 years. She has set-up two dive schools in the UK and along with Kevin owned a central London dive store for 5 years. Being an exceptional dive educator she will always be willing to share her thoughts on teaching and safe diving practices. Having come from being a nervous diver to exploring the depths of the English Channel she can relate to all level of diver.

Kevin is a PADI Staff Instructor and a TDI Trimix diver, as well as being a service technician and gas blender instructor. Having spent 5 years servicing and setting up gear he will try to find a solution to a configuration or performance problem. Along with Janine they have spent a little time exploring a few caves and caverns and are always keen to examine any dark holes in the rock.

Kosh is a Chocolate Labrador that we brought over from the UK (at great expense), who has had a troubled life. Attacked 2 weeks before leaving England he has a scarred eye and due to a retained testicle has none of them left either. So we can't breed him and can't show him, but everyone loves him anyway!!

Dargo is a Chesepeake Bay Retriever and is MAD AS!! Don't blame the dog though - it's always the owners fault.

The Crew
Jef, Kent and Karlean make up the dive crew. Jef is our skipper and also the Non-meat chef - usually an asian fusion ensemble. He's been diving all round the world and a fair few years at the Knights - with some impressive photos from them all. Kent is the local who just loves coming out to dive and show folk around the jewel of Northland. Great with his camera (although doesn't always share his snaps!), a Master Instrucor and king of the BBQ. Karlean is our occasional skipper and spear-fishing expert! As for the cakes, you'll have to come along to find out :D
