What is the water temperature going to be at The Poor Knights?

What is the visibility at The Poor Knights?

Early summer the vis can get down to 10-15m and then clear blue water comes in January and can get up to 30m+, but averages around 20m. During winter (May-Oct) visibility can be 30m+.

How do I get to Tutukaka Marina?

The easiest way is by car - about 30km from Whangarei. Parking is safe and free at the Marina. Otherwise you need to get to Whangarei - via Plane or Bus. Then you can either get a cab, or arrange a shuttle via Chris 021901408.

What level diver do I need to be to get the most out of The Poor Knights?

At most sites you can choose to dive at 30m or 15m, so they are good for all levels of diver. There are few currents, making navigation easy.

How many dives will you get to do?

We aim to do 3 day dives each day and night dives are an option on the stay-away evenings.

Which meals are included?

We supply all meals from Lunch on Day1 to lunch on the last day. Please feel free to bring along any extra snacks that you enjoy and any beer/wine/etc you would like to have after diving.

What are the timings?

We try to depart at 8:30, so we meet up at 7:45 to sort things out. Our return time to Tutukaka is normally 17:00, but we can arrange earlier returns if needed.

What happens with bad weather?

If we are out at The Poor Knights we can normally find somewhere to shelter safely. If the weather is bad on departure or return days, then we may have to return early, leave late, postpone or cancel the trip. Please read our Term & Conditions.

Where can we stay before or after the trip?

There are a few places in Tutukaka. Oceans Hotel and  Tutukaka Holiday Park are within walking distance. Other places in Ngunguru and the area are also available here.
