Bluewater

A few weeks of Easterly swell and wind hasn't been too much fun, but it has finally brought in the warmer, clearer Bluewater!

In certain sites the water is a lovely blue and much clearer than for the last few months. Seeing the bottom again in 15m-20m of water is such an impressive sight - especially with the sun beaming down from overhead. Looking up toward the boat and seeing the people waiting on the deck is a great way to end the dive :)

Stingrays are still cruising around most sites, but not too much in the way of mating going on - unless of course they are shy and wait for the divers to go away!?

Kingfish are also swimming around in large numbers looking for prey and there are plenty of options. The schooling fish are everywhere is large numbers, with juveniles huddled together in tight balls trying to evade their enemies.

In Red Baron Caves we managed to scare a school of Pink Maomao as they were gathering up in one of the cracks - seeing them swarming out towards you is like being in a giant pink hailstorm. Along the walls there were dozens of small thinstripe Tambja - seems that each site has an abundance of one species of Nudibranchs at the detrement of the others!?

Water temp up to 21 degrees in places and visibility a clear 20m plus a bit more with a haze.
