Springing to life

Not just the oceans, but also an update for the first time in a while, due to moving house and being off-line for nearly 2 months. We have, however, been out and are geared up for the season.....

Managed a few trips over the winter period and a couple of weekends recently have seen the first signs of spring out at the Poor Knights. A few Poor Knights Lilly on the cliffs have started to bloom and even a couple of Pohutukawas have turned red. Under the water the Blue Bell Turnicates are covering some of the overhanging walls - especially Imagination Wall and around Middle Arch.

The sight of carpet sharks sleeping on the floor is fairly common at this time of year, but is always a pleasant one. We even came across an Octopus the other week (and so too did another group, so maybe they are multiplying!?).

On another note we put down a Plaque for Des outside of RikoRiko cave - a year after his early departure from this life. I hope people get to see it and pay their respects. Not everyone will have met him, but most will share his love of diving and especially the magic of the Poor Knights. I only knew him a short time, but will remember him fondly.

The waters will soon be warming up and hope to see plenty of you on the boat and in the water. Dive safe, be happy and do it because you're having FUN.
