Cave Bay in May

It's taken nearly the whole season, but got to dive Cave Bay wall on the week long trip and had a great time.

Down at the bottom of the wall was a Gold Ribbon Grouper hiding in the cracks and rocks. Only managed to get one shot of it as it darted back and forth:

The wall was still full of life, with no signs that storms had been raging for the last 10 months or so - then again it is at 30m, so the effects of swell and sea would be greatly reduced. Just off the wall a school of big kingies cruised overhead, slowly patrolling among the columns of Pink Maomao and Demoiselle. In the back a stingray hugged the wall as it casually swam by.

Over on the west side we were treated to a great sunset at Middle Arch:

Considering it is now May the water is still very warm at 20 degrees and the vis is holding up too - 30m or so at the odd site and 20m at most others. As the vis can often improve over winter there should be some great diving to be had for the next few months - hope to see you there!
