Summer Time
Calm seas greeted us on Saturday morning, so we headed out to Tie Dye Arch. There was a column of two spot Demoiselle from the floor to the ceiling inside the Arch and atop were a school of huge snapper. Some pretty large porae were tucked under the overhang too making it a great first dive. Over to Matt's Crack and the huge crays were still lurking in the back of the cave - getting bigger each year. Last dive of the day was around Fraggle Rock and plenty to see just around the first drop off. An Eagle Ray sat calmly on the sea bed and a mosaic moray was pretty much under the boat. A yellow moray had obviously been disturbed by our anchor as it sat coiled on top of the chain!!
Day two started at Barren Arch and there was the usual array of Nudibranchs clinging to the wall. In Cave Bay we came across another Eagle Ray waiting to be photographed and one buddy pair had an encounter with a seal at the end of the wall. It span around a few times, checked out the divers and decided they were too slow and noisy to play with and went about its business!! Last dive was at Middle Arch and the Blue Bell Tunicates are out in all their glory around Bernie's Cave.
All in a pretty great start to the summer. Water around 15 degrees and vis variable between 10-20m.
