Dizzy at The Knights

On the last dive of our 2 day midweek trip we saw Dizzy (the 3 flipper turtle) at the entrance to Rikoriko.

Althogh there was a bit of a storm brewing out in the pacific we headed out for a Wednesday-Thursday trip. Nice and calm crossing we headed to Magic Wall for a clear cruise over the sand and onto the wall. Plenty of large rays around and the wall as beautiful as ever. Before the wind picked up we jumped over to Blue Maomao and it was teaming with fish and sunlight streaming into the archway. The third dive was at Trev's Rock and again loads of rays and morays. A few takers for the Night Dive after dinner, and now it can be done at 8:00pm (phew - don't have to wait until 9:30!!).

Day two started at Northern Arch - no sharks this time, but the archway was full of Snapper, Kingies and all the usual suspects. In the cave, the 2 Yellow Banded Perch were being shy and flitting around the cracks. As the breeze died down we hung onto Landing Bay Pinnacle for breakfast and then dive6. Longfin Boarfish and schooling Maomao are always the highlight (a couple of divers went over to do the short loop in Taravana - twice!!). The 7th dive was at Rikoriko entrance and as the divers descended a turtle popped up at the surface. It went back down and a few minutes later appeared again. Did the divers see it? Yes, indeed - a few photos and even a video of Dizzy (one of the recently released turtles - photo thanks to Darryl) came from the divers as they returned to the boat. 7 dives over 2 days, that's the beauty of a diving liveaboard.

The other thing of note was the lack of Nudibranchs. You know it's bad when you are pointing out Clown Nudibranchs - what's going on there eh? The water temp is still a steady 21C and visibility 15-20m.
