Entirely Poor Knights

Well, Rachael and Ben (our competition winners) joined us on our Entirely World Famous Tour event with Nicquel and we discovered The Poor Knights.

As Nicquel was held up in Auckland we took Rachael and Ben out to The HMNZS Waikato for a wreck dive early in the morning. Jamie took Ben for a tour of the darker innards while Rachael went along with Mel & Kent. The vis was OK and Ben was hugely impressed (in comparison with the HMAS Canberra) with the swim throughs and darkness of the wreck.

We returned to Tutukaka, had some lunch and then set off once Nicquel and Amanda had joined us. We'd left a bit late and the wind had picked up, but by the time we got to The Knights most of the other boats had gone. We anchored in the calm waters behind Blue Maomao Arch and took Nicquel for a dive. It was jammed full of Maomao and Demoiselles plus plenty of other stuff to make it a great first dive. Our overnight anchorage was in Rikoriko cave - another unique Poor Knights experience (where else can you spend the night in a sea cave?).

The next day we dived the cave very early morning and then onto The Canyons. Nicquel went in with Kent and Mel and they saw Rays in the kelp and free swimming plus Snapper under the boat and the usual critters along the wall. More diving was traded for some well earned R&R and catch up time for Nicquel, while the others dived on Landing Bay Pinnacle.

A pleasant cruise back to Tutukaka and a spot of late lunch rounded off the weekend before Nicquel, Amanda, Rachael and Ben went on their ways. Thanks to all for making it a great weekend and good luck for the rest of The Entirely World Famous New Zealand Tour.
