Those summer Knights
The Salp is pretty thick at the surface and in certain areas of The Knights, but it is slowly dying off and floating to the surface - a bit smelly, but it'll be gone soon! The benefit of all this salp is the explosion of life. Schools of fish are to be seen everywhere and the stingrays are back again in large numbers.
On the walls there is plenty of action too. The Gem nudubranchs are HUGE at the moment and at every dive site too. The Jason's are again abundant at this time of year and night dives have provided an extra helping of the rare and wonderful.
The first weekend in December provided us with some fairly nice weather and we managed to dive at Middle Arch, Crystal Cave, Trev's Rock and Rikoriko (night dive ) on day 1. Then day 2 saw us at Northern Arch in the morning and Landing Bay Pinnacle, with a stop at Red Baron Cave before heading home.
Spotted a Sunfish lurking just off Red Baron Cove, so may get to see one again in the water later on in the year.
Water temp is 17-18C and vis is great below the salps!
